On May 9, Polish Ambassador to China Jakub Kumoch and Polish Consul General in Shanghai Magdalena Zukowska visited Fudan. President of Fudan University JIN Li and Vice President of Fudan University CHEN Zhimin met with the delegation.
Kumoch said, education and science are important driving forces behind a country’s overall strength. This is his first official visit to Shanghai since he took office as Polish Ambassador to China, and he chose Fudan University as his first stop precisely because he attaches great importance to the education and research cooperation between the two countries. Fudan University has a long history with huge capacity in education and scientific research. He was very pleased to learn that the Department of Cultural Heritage and Museology and the School of International Relations and Public Affairs of Fudan University have cooperation programs with his alma mater, the University of Warsaw in Poland, to promote cooperation projects. He looks forward to working with Fudan University to deepen cooperation between Fudan University and Polish universities in research and education.
On behalf of Fudan, Jin welcomed the Polish delegation. He briefly reviewed the history of inter-university student and faculty exchanges between Fudan University and Poland. In 1988, Fudan University already had certain university-level collaboration with the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland. In the past years, Fudan has had a lot of collaboration with the Consulate General of Poland in Shanghai. Integrating five disciplinary categories, including humanities, social sciences, science, medicine and engineering, Fudan is vigorously promoting AI for Science (AI4S) and AI for Social Science (AI4SS), deepening openness to the whole world, and further strengthening personnel exchanges and cooperation in education and research with international partners. As President of Fudan University, Jin said he will make unremitting efforts to promote and strengthen the academic collaboration between Fudan and Poland.
